Profiling: new use of personal data.
We plan to include the personal we have on you to build some profiles of our customers that we can use to surface product adverts and gardening hints and tips to you online and on social media. We will also use the profiles we build to develop automated email communications with you based very specifically on the products you have bought or are interested in. This is part of our long term plan to reduce the amount of catalogues that we send out, the advantage of using profiles is that we can talk to you about the products you are specifically interested in. We want to stay in touch with you on social media, as we already do online via our websites and advertising. The process we use to do this is called custom audiences, using this technique we deliver product adverts and gardening information to you via Facebook and Twitter, if you use those platforms. Again this is part of our long-term plan to cut down on catalogue printing and reflects the general movement of our customers towards electronic shopping.
